TILLSON, NY: The sun finally comes out. Summer arrives. And you can’t wait to getaway. First, go online.

Getting away from the City has been made easy by a family of four online guides covering the Catskills, mid-Hudson Valley, and the Berkshires. You access the family through www.nycgetaways.com.

Find your getaway by region and how far you’re prepared to drive. Lodgings are listed by town and by number of rooms. Or choose by “Things to do,” or “What you are”--Single? Family? Check out “Monthly Specials” and “Major Events”--a consolidated listing of events in all three regions. Or take the “Quickway.”

“Quickway” is a new super-quick way to select your getaway. Comparing lodgings by visiting their web sites can be frustrating--they’re all organized differently, and most tell you more than you want to know. “Quickway” lists lodgings from all three regions, from resorts down to B&Bs. Select a lodging, and in a second window appears a summary page you can print out on a single sheet of paper. Other pages include a full page of photos and full contact information. The format is the same for every lodging, so it’s easy to compare them.

Slogan for the NYC Getaways family of sites is “To hang in, you have to getaway!” The publisher, Shaun Johnston, ought to know. He’s an ex-Manhattanite, now living in the mid-Hudson Valley.
