Selecting
directories to be listed in
National directories serve some regions better than others. Some
regional directories and lodging association sites work better
than even the best of the national directories. Some free listings
perform better than fee-based listings. What should you do?
If you have the time and the temperament, you can embark on your own program of directory registration and evaluation. How will you know which directories to invest in? You can refer to our evaluations of how directories and lodgings association web sites are performing in your region. Our lists of Mid Hudson-Catskills and Berkshires directories tell you how how much of their traffic around a dozen lodgings in your region are getting from each directory. Beginning at the top, you could work your way down until you run out of money. Then, every three months, check your traffic data to see which directories are earning their keep, and which you should abandon.

We've done the research--we've a database of over 500 directories

be registered in, and register you. Then we'll evaluate those
directories to see if they're working.
